'Candy game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.

The prosecutor continued: "Recently" his stepson had worries about what was going on, justifiably.

"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC stated items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the incident.

The legal representative stated the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the authorities a second time.
